Trekking tips for beginners

Four tips for preparation

Spring is here and the warmer temperatures make you adventurous. But how do you prepare for the planned trekking tour and which trekking socks are the right ones?

Tip 1 - Route planning and tour selection

Trekking tours demand experience and discipline, but promise breathtaking experiences in nature. A switch off from everyday life is guaranteed.

If it's your first time on the road, it's best to start with a manageable two- to three-day tour on your doorstep. Find out where you can sleep - it's not allowed to pitch your tent in the countryside everywhere.

During the first tour in your local area you can test and optimize your equipment to be prepared for the big adventure. You get to know your own needs better and feel how much nature suits you and whether your condition is sufficient for longer distances. You can train your fitness in advance with different fitness trainings like jogging, swimming, cycling.

For the route planning, it is best to make a concrete schedule for the respective day with sufficient buffer time, so you have an overview throughout the day and can better estimate your stages.

Tip 2 - The right supply

There are various providers who offer trekking food. However, meals with a high calorie content which make you feel full for a long time but are not heavy are best. These include nuts, muesli bars, bananas or wholemeal pasta. Always make sure that the food does not take up too much weight in the backpack.

Tip 3 - The right equipment

For trekking tours you need some equipment. Important are functional underwear, rain protection, good shoes, a tent and a place to sleep, cooking utensils and a suitable backpack which should not be too big - the bigger the more weight you have to carry. If you are travelling in a group, the luggage can be divided up. In the specialist shop you will find further important tips and competent advice for your next trekking tour.

For the right trekking orientation, trekking socks are an important component and facilitate the multi-day hike immensely. Rohner trekking socks prevent blisters, protect the skin and insulate in warmth and cold, during your hikes, mountain and trekking tours. Special padding and good insulation contribute to optimum wearing comfort. Find the right sock for your next adventure in our online shop.

Tip 4 - Pack your rucksack properly and off you go

There are many backpacks with different advantages in the specialized trade. Backpacks with a compression strap are always good. Heavy things should be stowed as close to the back as possible, light and bulky things can be stored in the bottom compartment. Weather protection and any emergency kit should be within easy reach and otherwise the rucksack should be loaded as evenly as possible. This way, nothing stands in the way of your trekking adventure.
