Sustainability as a holistic process chain, starting with the materials.
It is very important to us to always use recycled and environmentally friendly yarns wherever possible. On this page you will find all the information about the yarns we use in our production. As a company, it is our responsibility to show transparent products and production processes so that you understand what you are buying.

Egyptian cotton

Egyptian cotton is a fibre of particularly high quality with a very high staple length. The staple length refers to the fibre length of a yarn. This has the advantage over normal cotton that they can be spun into a thin but strong yarn. This makes the yarn more resistant, softer and shinier.

Cotton

Cotton belongs to the fine natural fibres and has a strong absorbency. However, this in turn has the disadvantage that it becomes heavy and has long drying times. When dry, it is very light in weight, feels pleasantly soft and is particularly skin-friendly. In addition, cotton socks are particularly breathable, easy to care for and resistant and hard-wearing. In addition to these excellent properties, cotton socks have exceptionally good temperature and moisture regulating properties. And last but not least: cotton is a renewable raw material, which means that products made of cotton are biodegradable.

Organic Cotton®

Organic cotton is cotton, but it is produced according to the guidelines of organic farming. The highest standards apply throughout the entire processing chain, from cultivation to sale, and these are constantly checked by state-approved, independent inspection bodies. The use of chemical pesticides and fertilisers is prohibited on organic cotton fields. This keeps the soil fertile in the long term. In addition, the environment and groundwater remain clean and people's health is not endangered.

Chemical fiber

Man-made fibres are fibrous materials that are produced chemically. A distinction is made between two groups: synthetic and cellulose. Synthetic man-made fibres are made from raw materials that do not exist in nature, which is why they are produced artificially. Cellulosic man-made fibres, on the other hand, are produced from the natural raw material cellulose.

Climayarn®

Climayarn® fibres absorb moisture, keep you warm in low temperatures and prevent your feet from overheating during exercise. They combine the advantages of natural merino wool with the high performance and strength of polypropylene. Compared to conventional cotton blends, it dries significantly faster.

Crabyon fibres

Crabyon is composed of a mixture of viscose and chitosan. Chitosan is obtained from chitin. This chitin is found on the outer skeleton of crabs, the so-called chitin shell (residual product). This is a natural material to which no synthetic substances are added. Chitosan has a similar structure to cellulose, but offers several positive properties, which is why it is particularly interesting for textile production.

On the one hand, it has a naturally antibacterial and antibacteriostatic effect. It thus prevents bacteria from multiplying after possible settlement. These microorganisms can cause unpleasant odours on the one hand and damage the skin on the other. The foot climate thus improves and the risk of infection is reduced, which is why socks with Crabyon fibres are particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. In addition, Crabyon absorbs the moisture released by the skin and your feet always stay pleasantly dry without drying out the skin.

Cupron

Cupron® technology is blended into the fibre or polymer at a specific concentration and is thus an integral part of the fibre and accordingly cannot be washed out. The resulting fibres offer a wide range of antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Elastane

Elastane fibres are chemical fibres made of polyurethane that contain both elastic and rigid segments, resulting in a very high elastic stretch. Environmental conditions such as low or high temperatures do not affect socks made of elastane, because the elastane makes them more tear-resistant and durable than all other socks. Every time the sock stretches, it always pulls back to its original shape. Socks made of elastane offer high wearing comfort and great freedom of movement, and they are also very easy to care for. The caressingly soft material results in an optimal fit.

Cashmere

Cashmere is a fine and soft natural fibre obtained from the undercoat of the cashmere goat, which is why it is called fine wool. Cashmere has excellent thermal properties and is incredibly fine, soft, supple and very light on the skin.

Lycra®

Lycra® is a synthetic fibre also known as spandex. In combination with other fibres, it creates textiles that are highly valued. The properties of Lycra® can be compared to those of rubber, but Lycra® is much more durable and long-lasting.

Lycra® offers the following advantages and properties

  • Outstanding comfort and flexibility
  • Extreme stretchability
  • Low moisture absorption
  • High dimensional stability

Merino wool

Merino wool is the high quality virgin wool from merino sheep. The fur consists of light, thin hairs and withstands extreme temperature fluctuations. Unlike ordinary sheep's wool, the merino fibers are much finer and only half as thick, which is also the reason why merino wool does not scratch, unlike normal wool.

The advantages of merino wool at a glance:

  • She does not scratch
  • It is breathable
  • Regulates temperature: cools in summer and warms in winter
  • Does not form unpleasant odours
  • Retains moisture but does not feel damp
  • Warms even when damp and transports moisture to the outside
  • Is biodegradable and a renewable, sustainable fibre

It also features excellent wearing comfort and feels pleasantly soft on the skin.

We source our wool from three European wool suppliers: Schoeller-Wool, South Wool and Flasa. These European-based organisations ensure transparency in the supply chain and the dyeing and finishing process. We ensure that our wool is certified and comes from farms where animal welfare is guaranteed.

We ensure that our wool comes from mulesing-free sources in two ways:

  1. Together with our supply partners, we source wool from geographical areas where mulesing is prohibited by law (e.g. New Zealand, South Africa and South America).
  2. Through third-party testing, we ensure that the wool is officially declared mulesing-free. You can find the certification here

Our vision as a manufacturer of high-quality socks is to ensure transparent production that puts the welfare of the animals first. We also ensure that no additional chemicals such as chlorine or adsorbable organic halogens (AOX) are used in the finishing and dyeing of the raw wool. We achieve this by working with leading companies in the industry. All finishing and dyeing processes are carried out within the European Union and in accordance with national and European regulations.

Meryl-Skinlife®

Meryl-Skinlife® is a synthetic hollow fibre (polyamide yarn) in which wafer-thin amounts of silver are embedded. This makes the fibre particularly antibacterial and odour-inhibiting. It is therefore particularly skin-friendly and also ideal for allergy sufferers.

Modal

Socks made of modal provide feel-good moments with a particularly high level of wearer comfort, because the material is silky soft on the body and breathable. Modal consists of pure cellulose, which is obtained from beech wood and thus has a purely vegetable origin. It has a cooling effect, is absorbent, robust, durable and dries quickly.

Polyester (Dacron®, Trevira®)

The term polyester serves as a generic term for all textiles and fabrics made from polyester fibres or yarns. These fibres consist of numerous synthetic materials, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET), fleece or polycarbonate.

Polyester is thus a synthetic fibre that is used in a variety of ways. The synthetic fibre is crease-resistant, soft, shape-retaining, easy-care and quick-drying.

Advantages at a glance:

  • Quick-drying
  • Dimensionally stable & heat resistant
  • Non-iron and crease resistant
  • Breathable
  • Easy care
  • Abrasion and tear resistant
  • Stores heat
  • Wicks moisture away well

Polypropylene

Polypropylene is the lightest synthetic fibre on the market. It is even lighter than water and thus offers more volume and warmth while weighing less. In addition, polypropylene is water-repellent, has good insulating properties and thus keeps you warm, and is also recyclable and environmentally friendly. Furthermore, polypropylene is characterised by high impact strength and temperature resistance.

Profiles®

The plastic PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is an outstanding polymer in terms of performance. Profilen® fibres are dirt and water repellent and offer superior gliding properties to prevent unwanted blisters, for example. It has been used in the majority of medical textiles in the past.

Virgin wool

Virgin sheep's wool comes exclusively from live animals and is obtained fresh once or twice a year, making it a natural product.

Pure new wool offers the following advantages:

  • Breathable and moisture-absorbing without feeling damp
  • Temperature balancing: both warming and cooling
  • Water and dirt repellent
  • Very easy to care for
  • Odour-neutralising: the wool neutralises odours and releases them back into the environment
  • Durable and long-lasting material: the fibres are particularly elastic, do not crease and retain their shape

We source our wool from three European wool suppliers: Schoeller-Wool, South Wool and Flasa. These European-based organisations ensure transparency in the supply chain and the dyeing and finishing process. Silk is a fine natural animal fibre obtained from cocoons of the silkworm. It is delicate and smooth and has an insulating effect against cold and heat and feels light and pleasant on the skin.

Silver fibres

Polyamide fibres are made particularly conductive and antibacterial by means of a silver coating. In addition, silver fibres wick away sweat and thus have an odour-inhibiting effect.

SmartCell®

The zinc oxide embedded in the SmartCell® fibre protects the skin from harmful radiation and has an anti-inflammatory effect. Zinc oxide also has antibacterial and odour-reducing properties that keep you feeling fresh for longer. The fibre also offers maximum wearing comfort. Products with SmartCell® yarn are the right choice for anyone who wants textiles that are gentle on the skin and care for it.

Viscose (CV)

The basis of viscose is cellulose. The natural substance is extracted from the wood of beech or spruce trees. Afterwards, various chemical substances are added to the cellulose, which turn the end product into a synthetic fabric. Viscose is thus semi-synthetic and can neither be clearly counted among natural fibres (wool, cotton or silk) nor among completely synthetic fabrics (such as polyester).

Viscose offers the following advantages:

  • Easy care and easy to wash
  • Pleasant and soft on the skin without scratching
  • High absorbency
